Color is the Keyboard
Artist's book by Suzanne Moore. Tacoma, WA. 2025 (Wassily Kandinsky)
Dimensions: 11 1/4” x 15” x 7/8”.
Bound: 2025.
Red goatskin binding with onlays of Australian cane toad and back-painted mylar squares. Free-hand tooling with painted and gold tooled areas. Painted cork edge-to-edge pastedowns and flyleaves. Woven silk headbands.
As the title implies, this an exploration of color, by Kandinsky and Moore. The binding likewise is such an exploration, referencing a page spread containing a rendition of a Pantone chart with colored squares upon colored squares. The imprecise treatment of the onlays and tooling refer to the painterly quality of Kandinsky and Moore’s work.
