Fausto and Carta de Anastasio El Pollo by Estanislao del Campo are both fictional accounts of theater visits experienced by Anastasia the Chicken (El Pollo). El Pollo is a gullible bumpkin of the Gaucho Burlesque tradition, who is not able to discern reality from dramatic presentation at the theater.
The bindings of both of these books portray abstracted views of the theater stage, using various materials and exaggerated perspective. Both bindings feature a proscenium arch, stage planes, curtains, set constructions and references to lighting. The bindings do not reference the characters or plots but they celebrate the wonder and magic that is at the heart of the theater experience for the novice and the experienced theater goer as well.
